Expression and function of vasoactive intestinal peptide receptors in human lower esophageal sphincter

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is an important neurotransmitter involved in the modulation of gastrointestinal function through stimulation VIP receptors. However, expression VPAC1R, VPAC2R and PAC1R human Lower esophageal sphincter (LES) has not been fully clarified. Therefore, purpose this study to explore these receptors sphincter, responses peptide, role responses.

Expression of serotonin receptors in human lower esophageal sphincter

Serotonin (5-HT) is a neurotransmitter and vasoactive amine that is involved in the regulation of a large number of physiological functions. The wide variety of 5-HT-mediated functions is due to the existence of different classes of serotonergic receptors in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract and nervous system. The aim of this study was to explore the expression of multiple types of 5-HT rec...

Expression of lysophosphatidic acid receptors in the human lower esophageal sphincter

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a bioactive lipid that is involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes occurring in the gastrointestinal tract. It acts via six distinct types of receptors, LPA1, LPA2, LPA3, LPA4, LPA5 and LPA6, which belong to the family of G protein-coupled receptors. The aim of the present study was to detect the expression of the LPA receptors in the huma...

Vasoactive intestinal peptide in human nasal mucosa.

Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), which is present with acetylcholine in parasympathetic nerve fibers, may have important regulatory functions in mucous membranes. The potential roles for VIP in human nasal mucosa were studied using an integrated approach. The VIP content of human nasal mucosa was determined to be 2.84 +/- 0.47 pmol/g wet weight (n = 8) by RIA. VIP-immunoreactive nerve fiber...

Gastric mechanosensory and lower esophageal sphincter function in rumination syndrome.

Our hypothesis was that rumination syndrome is associated with gastric sensory and motor dysfunction. We studied gastric and somatic sensitivity, reflex relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), and gastric compliance and accommodation postprandially and postglucagon. A barostatically controlled gastric bag and esophageal manometry were used to compare gastric sensorimotor functions a...

Characterization of vasoactive intestinal peptide receptors in rabbit ciliary processes.

PURPOSE To demonstrate a potential role for vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) in the regulation of ciliary process function, VIP receptors on rabbit ciliary process membranes were identified and characterized in biochemical and immunochemical studies. METHODS Membranes were isolated from rabbit ciliary processes, and VIP receptors were characterized by competition binding, affinity cross-li...
